What happened
During an attempt to depart from Tazovskoye Airport, the aircraft encountered challenging environmental conditions, including an icy runway surface and visibility restricted to 500 meters. A crosswind was also present, with gusts reaching 43 km/h. As the flight progressed through its takeoff roll, covering approximately 1,600 meters, the pilot initiated the rotation maneuver. During this phase, the aircraft experienced a rightward bank and subsequently impacted the ground 265 meters beyond the point of rotation, landing roughly 70 meters to the right of the extended centerline.
The accident resulted in 12 fatalities (comprising all four crew members and eight passengers) and 13 injuries among the remaining passengers. The aircraft was completely destroyed during the impact.
Findings
Investigations into the crash identified that the flight was operated despite weather conditions and visibility levels falling below established minimum requirements. A primary contributing factor was the loss of control during the takeoff phase. Additionally, reports indicated that air traffic control personnel had not received adequate rest following alcohol consumption the previous night.
