What happened
A flight departing from Belo Horizonte-Pampulha Airport for Caratinga, Minas Gerais, ended in a fatal accident during its initial climb. The aircraft, a twin engine airplane, was conducting a photogrammetry mission at the time of the incident.
Immediately following liftoff, while the aircraft had reached an altitude of approximately 60 metres, the pilot attempted a 45-degree turn. During this maneuver, the flight crew lost control of the plane. The aircraft subsequently struck a bulldozer that was positioned near the end of the runway. The impact caused the plane to burst into flames.
There were four fatalities in total, involving both the crew and passengers on board. The occupants included the pilot, a navigator, and two engineers.
Findings
The accident occurred during the climb phase while the aircraft was performing a steep turn, which led to the loss of control.
