What happened
During an approach into a destination obscured by heavy fog, the pilot attempted to land but subsequently decided to execute a go-around. During this maneuver, the rear of the aircraft made contact with the ground. This impact caused the plane to become uncontrollable, leading to a crash landing.
Following the impact, the airframe broke into two separate sections. The force of the accident caused the ignition of 500 gallons of onboard fuel, resulting in a post-crash fire. Despite the intensity of the fire and the structural failure of the aircraft, all eight occupants managed to exit the wreckage without sustaining any injuries. The aircraft was completely destroyed during the event.
Findings
- The accident occurred during the transition from landing to a go-around phase.
- Low visibility due to fog was present at the time of the incident.
- The tail striking the ground initiated the loss of control and subsequent breakup.
