Accident Overview

A military aircraft engaged in a tactical exercise over the Atlantic Ocean crashed shortly after a night takeoff from Lorient-Lann-Bihoué Naval Air Station. The aircraft was carrying 12 members of Escadrille 25F. During the initial climb in poor weather conditions, the airplane entered a left turn and then plunged into the ground, crashing onto a small hill in Kergantic, approximately 3 km southwest of the airfield. The aircraft was totally destroyed, and all 12 occupants were killed.
