What happened
On June 3, 2012, a Dana Airlines (Nig.) Limited flight, operating as DANACO 0992, crashed while approaching Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, Nigeria. The aircraft, a Boeing MD-83 with registration 5N-RAM, was performing a scheduled domestic flight from Abuja to Lagos.
During the flight, the crew began noticing discrepancies between throttle settings and engine power indications. Approximately seventeen minutes after departure, the aircraft experienced a loss of power in engine number 1. As the flight progressed through the descent and approach phases, the situation worsened. The impact resulted in a post-impact fire that destroyed the aircraft. The accident resulted in 153 fatalities among the passengers and crew, along with 6 ground fatalities.
