What happened
On a recent flight departing from San Fernando Airport in Buenos Aires, a twin-engine airplane experienced a catastrophic failure shortly after takeoff. During the initial climb phase, air traffic control attempted to contact the crew regarding a potential malfunction with the aircraft's transponder. The crew failed to acknowledge these communications.
Seconds after the unresponded contact, the aircraft entered an uncontrolled descent. The plane impacted a marshy region within the Paraná de la Palmas delta. The wreckage was subsequently located on August 19, approximately 17 km north of the departure airport. The force of the impact caused the aircraft to disintegrate. There were three fatalities among the occupants, as all three people on board were killed in the accident.
Findings
- The aircraft experienced an uncontrolled descent during the climb.
- An apparent transponder issue was noted by air traffic controllers prior to the crash.
