History of the Flight

On 10 January 2011, an Embraer EMB-505 aircraft, registered A4O-CY, operated by the Royal Oman Police/DGPA as a demonstration flight, departed from Muscat International Airport at 09:17 UTC. During the first visual circuit, after selecting landing gear down, the crew received a Crew Alerting System indication that the right main landing gear was not locked down. The crew cycled the landing gear and performed flypasts to visually confirm gear extension, but the indication persisted. Believing the issue was a faulty proximity switch, the crew proceeded to land on Runway 08 at 09:39 UTC.

Shortly after touchdown, the right main landing gear partially collapsed, causing the aircraft to bank right and the right wing tip to scrape the runway surface for approximately 1130 meters before the aircraft came to a stop to the right of the runway centerline. There was no fire, and all eight occupants evacuated without injury.
