What happened

On a flight departing from Wamena Airport at 11:00 local time, a single-engine aircraft carrying two pilots and three passengers struck a mountain slope. The flight was transporting 508 kg of cargo and was intended to land at Derakma by 11:25 local time. Approximately ten minutes after takeoff, the plane impacted terrain at an altitude of 2,300 metres.

Following the disappearance of the flight, a helicopter crew located the wreckage the next day. The accident resulted in five fatalities, with no survivors among the crew or passengers. At the time of the impact, weather conditions were within visual meteorological limits.
