What happened
On the morning of the incident, a twin-engine aircraft departed from Cali-Alfonso Bonilla Aragón Airport, destined for Tolú. The flight was operated with one pilot and seven passengers on board. Following the initial departure from Tolú, the pilot intended to redirect the flight toward Montería-Los Garzones Airport.
During the climb phase following the second takeoff, the aircraft experienced engine problems. In response to the mechanical failure, the pilot initiated an emergency descent to locate a suitable landing site. The aircraft eventually reached a pasture located approximately 10 km east of Tolú, near Purísima de la Concepción.
During the landing sequence, the right wing of the aircraft struck various obstacles. This impact led to the collapse of the nose landing gear. While the pilot escaped the incident without injury, the aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
Findings
- The primary factor leading to the emergency landing was the occurrence of engine problems during the flight phase following takeoff.
