What happened
On the date of the accident, a twin-engine aircraft departed from Constanza-14 de Junio Airport, intending to fly to Las Américas Airport in Santo Domingo. Shortly after the takeoff phase, the aircraft lost control and descended into a forested region. The impact caused the wreckage to ignite, and the plane was completely destroyed.
Search teams located the debris field approximately 3 km northeast of the airport, in the vicinity of the village of Tireo. There were two fatalities among the occupants of the aircraft. Following the crash, authorities discovered 11 kilograms of cocaine at the site of the wreckage.
Findings
While the specific mechanical or operational reasons for the loss of control remain undetermined, investigators have noted that the flight may have been an unauthorized or illegal operation. The presence of narcotics at the crash site is a significant factor in the investigation of the flight's purpose.
