Crop spraying aircraft crash in Chernolesskoye region

1 fatality • Chernolesskoye, Russia • Flight

A single-engine aircraft crashed and caught fire in an open field during a crop spraying mission in the Chernolesskoye region, resulting in the death of the pilot.

What happened

During a scheduled agricultural mission for the 'Svoboda' Agricultural Cooperation, a single-engine aircraft was conducting crop spraying operations in the Chernolesskoye area. While operating at an altitude of approximately 9 metres, the aircraft attempted to gain elevation but instead struck several power lines and a concrete pylon.

Following these initial impacts, the aircraft traveled roughly 99 metres before coming to a rest in an open field. The force of the impact and a subsequent fire caused the total destruction of the aircraft. The pilot, who was the only person on board at the time of the accident, was killed in the crash.

Findings

  • The aircraft was performing low-altitude maneuvers for agricultural purposes.
  • The sequence of events involved successive collisions with electrical infrastructure, specifically power cables and a pylon.
  • The impact with power lines and a concrete pylon served as the primary event leading to the loss of control and the subsequent fire.

Probable cause

The aircraft struck power cables and a concrete pylon while attempting to gain altitude during low-level crop spraying operations.
