What happened
During a mission to spray crops for the Mikhail Farm in the Tatsinsky District of the Rostov Region, a single-engine aircraft experienced a critical mechanical failure. The aircraft was operating at a low altitude of approximately 20 to 25 meters and traveling at a speed of 130 km/h when the engine ceased functioning.
Following the loss of power, the aircraft descended rapidly and struck power lines before impacting a field. The impact was followed by a post-crash fire that resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. The wreckage was located roughly 2 km away from the Mikhail farmhouse.
At the time of the accident, the aircraft was carrying 400 kilograms of fuel and 1,200 liters of pesticides. The occupants included the pilot and a 13-year-old passenger. While the pilot escaped the wreckage without injuries, the boy sustained injuries during the crash.
Findings
- The primary factor in the accident was an engine failure occurring shortly after takeoff during the low-altitude flight phase.
