What happened

A twin-engine aircraft was traveling from Puerto Ayacucho toward La Carlota when it encountered difficult weather conditions. While the aircraft was maintaining an altitude of 11,500 feet, it collided with trees in a heavily forested, mountainous area situated approximately 24 km from El Junquito.

The impact and subsequent fire following the crash resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. There were 16 people on board at the time of the accident, consisting of three crew members and 13 passengers, including seven civilians. All 16 fatalities were recorded as a result of the accident.
