What happened
During the landing phase of the flight, the aircraft experienced an unstable touchdown on a grass runway. According to the pilot, as the engine power was reduced to idle following contact with the ground, the aircraft bounced upward.
This sequence resulted in two distinct bounces on the runway surface. During these impacts, the nose landing gear separated from the airframe. Following the loss of the nose gear, the landing gear strut embedded itself into the ground, causing the aircraft to pitch forward in a nose-over maneuver.
The accident resulted in substantial damage to the fuselage, the wings, and the empennage of the aircraft. There were no fatalities reported in this incident.
Findings
Prior to the impact, the pilot indicated that there were no mechanical failures or malfunctions present that would have prevented the aircraft from operating normally. The primary factor in the structural failure of the landing gear was the repeated bouncing on the grass surface during the landing roll.
