What happened

On 22 June 2022, at approximately 21:00 UTC, a Pilatus PC-6/B2-H4, registered as PK-BVM, was conducting a flight from Mozes Kilangin International Airport in Timika, Papua, toward Duma Airstrip. During the approach to the destination, the aircraft disappeared from communication. The aircraft was subsequently located roughly 2 nautical miles northwest of Duma Airstrip. The impact resulted in substantial damage to the airframe. While there were no fatalities, 5 passengers were seriously injured, and two others remained uninjured.

The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (SUST) issued a notification regarding the accident, which involved an Indonesian-registered aircraft. The investigation into the circumstances of the crash and the loss of contact has been initiated by the Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT).
