What happened
On 22 November 2023, at approximately 01:38 UTC, a Pilatus PC-12/45, registration C-GEOW, was performing a flight from Sioux Lookout Airport to Kasabonika Airport in Ontario, Canada. The aircraft, operated by North Star Air Ltd., was carrying two pilots and five passengers at the time of the incident. During the landing phase on Runway 03, the aircraft failed to stop within the runway limits and experienced a runway excursion. The aircraft overran the end of the runway, coming to a stop roughly 350 feet beyond the departure end of the runway. While the aircraft sustained substantial damage, there were no injuries reported among the crew or passengers. The aircraft's Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) activated following the impact.
The investigation
The investigation into the event was initiated by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB). The inquiry focused on the circumstances surrounding the landing at Kasabonica Airport and the factors that led to the aircraft exiting the runway pavement.
