What happened
On July 28, 2025, at approximately 09:45 local time, a Daher TBM-940, registered D-FSAM, crashed into Lake Lucerne north of Bürgenstock. The aircraft, operated privately, had departed from Buochs Airfield (LSZC) in Switzerland, with a destination of Burg Feuerstein (EDQE) in Germany. The flight was conducted under visual flight rules (VFR), though the pilot had planned to transition to instrument flight rules (IFR) during the journey.
Shortly after takeoff from runway 24, roughly three minutes into the flight, the aircraft impacted the water and sank. While the pilot escaped without injury, the single passenger sustained injuries during the impact.
The investigation
The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (SUST) initiated an investigation into the occurrence. As of the preliminary report, the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances leading to the impact with the lake surface. The aircraft sustained serious damage in the accident.
