What happened
Upon completing its landing at Palma de Mallorca-Son Bonet Airport, a twin engine aircraft experienced issues with its braking or stopping capability. Following the initial touchdown on the runway, the plane failed to decelerate sufficiently within the available pavement. The aircraft subsequently exited the runway environment and continued moving across the airfield perimeter.
During the excursion, the aircraft collided with a boundary wall located at the edge of the airport grounds. After striking the structure, the plane traveled into an adjacent olive plantation where it eventually came to a halt.
Outcomes
Despite the impact with the wall and the subsequent excursion into the plantation, all 37 occupants on board were successfully evacuated from the aircraft without injury. The structural damage sustained by the twin engine aircraft during the event was severe enough that the airframe was declared a total loss.
