The crew was completing a positioning flight from Jalal-Abad to the "Komsomol" Airstrip in the Bazar-Kurgan district of the Osh region. nine minutes after takeoff, he encountered below-minima weather conditions (low clouds and fog) over the Kara-Kiyakyr Mountain Range.
