While approaching Villavicencio following an uneventful cargo flight from Mitú, the crew encountered engine problems and elected to make an emergency landing. The aircraft crash landed in an open field located near La Colina, about 30 km east of Villavicencio. Both pilots escaped uninjured and the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.

During the takeoff roll at Barranquilla-Soledad Airport, the airplane went out of control and came to rest in flames. Both pilots escaped uninjured while the aircraft was destroyed.
