At approximately 2219 e.s.t. on January 18, 1960, a Capital Airlines Vickers-Armstrongs Viscount, registration N 7462, crashed and burned in a wooded area near Charles City, Virginia. The flight was en route from Washington, D.C., to Norfolk, Virginia. All passengers, including two infants, and the four crew members received fatal injuries. The aircraft struck the ground in a level attitude with no forward velocity.
