SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF AND CLIMBOUT, THE AUTOPILOT MALFUNCTIONED AFTER THE AIRCRAFT ENTERED AN OVERCAST AND ENCOUNTERED RAIN AND TURBULENCE. THE PILOT RETURNED TO BERMUDA DUNES, CA. AFTER LANDING HE HAD THE ELECTRICAL, AVIONICS AND AUTO PILOT SYSTEMS CHECKED. ALL ITEMS WERE OPERATIONAL.
