THE PILOT STATED THAT AFTER RETURNING FROM A X-CTRY FLIGHT HE WAS UNABLE TO ACTIVATE THE ARPT RWY LIGHTS. LOW ON FUEL, THE ENGINE QUIT WHILE HE SEARCHED FOR A PLACE TO LAND. HE EXECUTED A FORCED LANDING INTO AN OPEN FIELD.
