The right magneto distributor gear was jammed by a loose electrode. This led to a mechanical failure of the gear teeth affecting the engine timing and subsequently the helicopter lost power. The altered engine timing likely resulted in the number one cylinder exhaust valve being damaged. This resulted in a loss of compression and a further loss of power. Full accident record
