Aeroflot crew exceeded duty time after repeated reroutes, regulator says

The crew of Aeroflot flight SU1041 from Sochi to Moscow Sheremetyevo went over its permitted duty time after the route was changed several times, according to the channel Aviatorshina.

The flight on 12 September was operated with a Boeing 737-800 carrying 138 passengers. Airspace closures forced the aircraft to fly first over Kazakhstan, and the route was later adjusted again over a wide area.

The three pilots and six cabin crew had already flown the outbound leg from Moscow to Sochi. On landing at Sheremetyevo at around four in the morning, the crew had been on duty for roughly 15 hours, with post-flight work still to be done.

Aviatorshina reported that the permitted flight duty time was exceeded even when a possible extension is taken into account. The captain reported the matter voluntarily.

Russia's aviation regulator, Rosaviatsiya, classified it as an occurrence and opened an investigation.
