Afcom Cargo signs tentative deal for up to four Boeing 777-8 freighters

Indian cargo airline Afcom Cargo signed a memorandum of understanding with Boeing on 2 September covering the purchase of up to four Boeing 777-8F freighters. If a definitive purchase agreement is reached, the company would become the first Indian customer for the new freighter.

Afcom currently operates three converted Boeing 737-800 freighters and plans to expand that fleet to five aircraft. The 777-8Fs would be based in Chennai and used on long-haul routes to the Far East, Southeast Asia, and Africa.

The new Boeing freighter is designed for up to 118 tonnes of payload and 31 pallets on the main deck. Delivery dates and purchase price remain under negotiation.
