Air Canada will begin nonstop flights between Vancouver International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in May 2027. The carrier announced the new route as part of its summer 2027 network plan. Guangzhou becomes the airline's third destination in mainland China, after Shanghai Pudong and Beijing Capital.

The airline also said it will add a range of new European destinations from Toronto Pearson International Airport and Montréal–Trudeau International Airport. The broader network update was not limited to the Guangzhou service, but the carrier did not provide specifics on aircraft type, frequency, or exact start date for the Vancouver–Guangzhou route in the material reviewed. It also did not state whether the route would be operated year-round or seasonally.

Air Canada currently operates from Vancouver to other Asian cities. The new Guangzhou service is expected to improve connectivity for passengers travelling between western Canada and southern China. The airline described the addition as part of its ongoing growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
