Air Europa resumes flights to Caracas after two-month suspension

Air Europa says it will resume flights to Venezuela's Simón Bolívar International Airport, near Caracas, on 1 September. The Spanish carrier suspended the route after severe earthquakes hit Venezuela in June.

The suspension lasted around two months. During that time, Air Europa kept its Venezuela connections going through Valencia instead of Caracas. Now that the Caracas airport has reopened, the airline says it will go back to its normal schedule on the route.

Passengers with existing bookings don't need to do anything, according to the airline. Air Europa said it would contact affected travellers directly if any changes to their itineraries turn out to be necessary.

The airline gave no further details on the extent of the earthquake damage, nor on why the airport stayed closed for two months.
