Airbus expects September deliveries to fall after A321neo quality issue
Airbus has found a quality problem affecting the A321neo and expects September handovers to come in below plan, with around 20 aircraft pushed to the fourth quarter.
Airbus is heading for a slower close to September than it had planned after a quality problem was found on the A321neo, the most in-demand model in its single-aisle family. Two industry sources, cited by Reuters, described the issue.
About 20 A321neo aircraft have been rescheduled and moved to the fourth quarter, partly because of the quality problem, according to one of the people familiar with the matter.
The manufacturer has not said the aircraft's operational safety is affected, and airlines are continuing to take delivery of the jets as normal.
Airbus declined to comment on monthly figures that are still incomplete. On Friday the company said its annual targets are unchanged, and it expects to make up the postponed handovers during the final three months of the year.
