Alaska Airlines expects Boeing 737 MAX 10 certification by late September
Alaska Airlines anticipates FAA certification of the Boeing 737 MAX 10 by the end of September, with passenger service targeted for spring next year, according to its chief operating officer.
Alaska Airlines expects the Boeing 737 MAX 10 to be certified by the end of September, with its first aircraft arriving next spring and passenger flights starting between April and mid-May, chief operating officer Jason Berry told Reuters.
Certification by the Federal Aviation Administration must come before Boeing can deliver to customers. The MAX 10 programme is several years behind schedule, and further delay in technical certification would put the airline's timeline at risk.
Even after the single-aisle jet clears the regulator, Alaska Air has internal technical work to finish before commercial operations begin. It must certify the heads-up display for its pilots, which Berry said would take a few months.
Berry called the schedule tight, describing it as sporting, and said the airline is not yet in a panic.
