An American Airlines flight from Dallas-Fort Worth to Newark was diverted to Baltimore on Thursday night after a passenger allegedly became violent and had to be restrained. The incident occurred aboard flight AA618, which departed from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport bound for Newark Liberty International Airport.
According to reports, fellow passengers duct-taped and zip-tied the individual to his seat to prevent further disruption. The aircraft landed safely at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, where law enforcement met the flight.
The airline confirmed the diversion and said the passenger was removed from the aircraft. No injuries were reported among the 190 passengers and six crew members on board. The flight later continued to Newark.
Details about what triggered the passenger's behavior were not immediately available. The FBI and local authorities are investigating the incident.
