American Airlines says jet delivery delays limit 2027 long-haul growth

American Airlines says delayed aircraft deliveries have forced it to scale back international growth plans for summer 2027. The airline had expected to receive enough new long-haul jets to support as many as 13 additional routes.

That expansion has now been reduced, the carrier said, because Boeing and Airbus have been slower than anticipated in handing over new aircraft. American did not say which routes were dropped or scaled back. It also gave no revised figure for how many new long-haul services it now expects to launch.
