Auve Tech runs driverless passenger shuttle at Tallinn Airport
Estonian developer Auve Tech has begun operating its MiCa autonomous shuttle at Tallinn Airport without an onboard safety operator, after receiving regulatory authorisation in August 2026. The company says it is the first such service at a European airport.

An autonomous passenger shuttle is now operating at Tallinn Airport without a safety operator on board, according to the Estonian vehicle developer Auve Tech. The company said the service began after it received regulatory authorisation in August 2026. It is the first arrangement of its kind in Europe in which an autonomous passenger vehicle operates at an airport under remote supervision.
The vehicle is the MiCa, an eight-passenger electric shuttle built to carry people and goods at airports, industrial sites and in cities. It is a Level 4 autonomous vehicle that uses cameras and LiDAR sensors to navigate. A remote supervision centre monitors the shuttles. According to the company, a single supervisor can watch several vehicles and step in when needed, instead of one staff member being assigned to each shuttle.
Aviation maintenance company Magnetic MRO already uses the shuttles to move employees and equipment between its facilities, Auve Tech said. In that operation the vehicles cover roughly 1,000 kilometres a week. The company also said the shuttles reach an average autonomy rate of 99.9%, though it has not set out how that figure is calculated.
A demonstration was held at the airport on 7 October 2026. Representatives from government, aviation and industry attended, as well as the media.
