Avianca Cargo flies 60 more tons of relief aid to earthquake-hit Colombia
Avianca Cargo delivered an additional 60 tons of humanitarian aid from Miami to Cali, bringing its total to more than 150 tons since a recent earthquake struck Colombia.
On August 14, 2026, Avianca Cargo flew another 60 tons of relief supplies from Miami to Cali, Colombia, as part of its ongoing response to the country's recent earthquake. The airline said the flight was operated with an A330F freighter.
That shipment brought the total aid Avianca has moved since the earthquake to more than 150 tons over two days. Nine tons of the latest cargo were coordinated by the Colombian government, while the remaining 51 tons came from the Global Empowerment Mission, a humanitarian organization, according to Avianca.
The cargo included electric generators and kits with hygiene products and nonperishable food, meant for distribution based on need once they arrived in Cali. Avianca said it is drawing on both its cargo and passenger networks to keep aid moving into the affected region.
Diogo Elias, chief executive of Avianca Cargo, said the airline's operations exist to serve a purpose beyond simply linking destinations. He thanked the Colombian government and the Global Empowerment Mission for working with the carrier's logistics teams.
Michael Capponi, founder of the Global Empowerment Mission, said that in humanitarian response, speed and efficiency determine how quickly aid reaches affected families. He credited the partnership with Avianca for helping move supplies rapidly.
No details were given on casualties or damage from the earthquake itself. The available information was limited to the logistics of the aid delivery.
