Baykar tests UAV-300 ballistic missile from Akinci drone
Turkish uncrewed aircraft maker Baykar says it has test-fired a new supersonic ballistic missile from its Akinci UAV, striking a target roughly 250km away during a sortie from Corlu.
Baykar has carried out a successful test of a new supersonic ballistic missile launched from its Akinci uncrewed air vehicle. The aircraft flew from Corlu for the trial and released a Roketsan UAV-300 missile, which hit a target about 135nm (250km) away, according to the company.
The launch follows earlier work to integrate a different Roketsan ballistic missile, the UAV-230, on the same platform. On the same sortie, the Akinci also fired a UAV-122, a weapon derived from the tube-launched TRG-122 guided rocket.
Baykar said integration of the UAV-122 and UAV-230 supersonic missiles had already been completed successfully, and that adding the UAV-300 lifts the Akinci's long-range strike capacity. The twin turboprop aircraft can be armed for missions against air and ground targets, the company added.
