Boeing reverts some 737 Max jets to older flight management software
Boeing is delivering 737 Max aircraft while returning some of them to an earlier version of their flight management software after a problem was found with the newer version. The FAA has said it will not complete certification of the 737 Max 10 until the issue is resolved.

Boeing continues to deliver the 737 Max but has returned some aircraft to an older version of the flight management software, according to Aviation Week. The issue concerns version U14. During a go-around, the automatic vertical navigation can disengage if pilots enter changes to the approach procedure in the flight management system. The aircraft's altitude then has to be monitored manually.
Boeing became aware of the problem in late 2024 through feedback from airlines. In September the company began a safety review and informed the FAA, the US regulator.
Customers can request the earlier U13 version for the 737 Max 8 and Max 9. Some aircraft already delivered have also been switched back to U13. The FAA has said it will not complete certification of the 737 Max 10 until the problem is resolved.
