Brazil's civil aviation authority, Anac, has approved a rule allowing São Paulo-Congonhas airport to handle take-offs and landings after 23:00 during exceptional disruptions.
Regular operations there stay restricted to 06:00 to 23:00, and airlines may not plan flights outside that window.
The exception covers significant disruptions, such as severe weather or operational problems that leave already scheduled flights heavily delayed. No fixed nightly cut-off has been set for now. Air traffic control, the airport operator and airlines are to agree on joint criteria and procedures for applying the rule.
