Cessna 210 loses engine shortly after Louisiana takeoff; pilot injured
A Cessna 210 crashed into a field after its engine separated in flight shortly after departing Louisiana Regional Airport in Gonzales. The 74-year-old pilot survived with minor injuries.

A single-engine Cessna 210 crashed in a field near Gonzales, Louisiana, on Tuesday morning, shortly after departing Louisiana Regional Airport. According to Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre, the engine separated from the airframe before impact.
The pilot, 74, suffered minor injuries, including a small cut to the head, the sheriff's office said.
Emergency crews arrived at about 6 a.m. and found the aircraft upside down roughly half a mile from the runway, Gonzales Fire Chief Preston Landry said. The engine came to rest about 100 yards away on a nearby road. Responders found the pilot already on his feet.
Tracking data showed the flight began shortly before 5 a.m. and lasted under a minute.
No cause for the engine separation has been determined. Authorities have not confirmed whether the mounting structure or attachment hardware played any role.
