Attestor, the British investment firm, has exercised an option over the Condor stake it did not already hold. The German leisure carrier said the deal for the remaining 49% is due to complete on August 31, 2027.

Condor called the move a reorganisation of its shareholder structure. The shares were held on behalf of the German federal government and the state of Hesse through SG Luftfahrtgesellschaft. They will be restructured after the airline repays state aid in early spring 2026.

The step closes a notable period in Condor's history. German state support dates back to the insolvency of its former parent, Thomas Cook, and to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Attestor became a long-term investor in 2021 under an arrangement giving it the right to take the remaining shares later. Condor said Attestor has backed its strategic development since then.

The option had been expected to be taken up. It was reported in July 2026 that Attestor intended to exercise it, and that it might consider bringing in a larger airline as a minority shareholder.

According to the aviation data provider ch-aviation, Condor's fleet numbers 55 aircraft, with another 17 on wet lease. It comprises 18 Airbus A330neos, nine A321neos, nine A320-200s, twelve A321-200s and seven A320neos. The airline also has just under 40 new aircraft on order.
