Airbus A319

An easyJet flight from Glasgow to Southampton diverted to Liverpool on Sunday morning after the crew reported high vibrations in the right-hand engine and declared an emergency.

The aircraft, an Airbus A319 registered G-EZFI, left Glasgow Airport at 09:15 BST as flight U2415. It was cruising at 31,000 feet, about halfway through the scheduled one-hour domestic service, when the crew raised the alarm and squawked 7700.

According to initial reports, a bird strike triggered the vibration. The flight deck declared an urgent diversion under standard safety procedures, and the aircraft was vectored to Liverpool John Lennon Airport. It landed safely 48 minutes after leaving Glasgow.

According to the airline, easyJet operations teams were at the airport to inspect the aircraft and address the technical issue. Customer service and operations staff were arranging alternative travel so passengers could reach their final destination as quickly as possible.
