European pilots warn against more UAE traffic rights over Russian airspace use
The European Cockpit Association has urged Germany not to grant additional traffic rights to UAE carriers, citing unfair use of Russian airspace by Emirates and potential harm to European jobs and hubs.
The European Cockpit Association, which represents more than 44,000 pilots in Europe, has asked the German government not to grant further traffic rights to airlines from the United Arab Emirates until competition is fair. The association said Emirates can use Russian airspace, shortening many of its Asia routes, while European airlines have to fly longer detours. It warned that more rights could move international traffic toward non-European hubs, with possible effects on jobs and European airports.
