Eurowings and Lufthansa Aviation Training open joint crew centre near Düsseldorf

Eurowings and Lufthansa Aviation Training have opened a shared crew training centre close to Düsseldorf Airport, the carrier's main base. The site covers 2,000 square metres and can handle up to 150 trainees each day. Lufthansa Aviation Training runs the centre on behalf of Eurowings.

Training covers safety and service for both cockpit and cabin staff. Equipment includes an Airbus A320 training system, a cabin mock-up for evacuation drills, an aircraft-door trainer, and an evacuation-slide tower. Outside, crews can practise firefighting on board. Virtual-reality training is planned for 2027.

Eurowings is also moving to a more practice-oriented approach for recurrent training, using situations taken from day-to-day flight operations. It becomes the second Lufthansa Group airline to adopt the revised concept, after Brussels Airlines.

The location near the airport will cut travel time for crew members.
