Eurowings flight diverts to Paris after smoke in galley
A Eurowings-operated flight from Cologne to Palma de Mallorca declared an emergency and diverted to Paris after smoke was reported in the rear galley.
A Eurowings flight diverted to Paris-Charles de Gaulle on the evening of August 29 after smoke developed in the aircraft's rear galley, the airline said.
The flight, numbered EW590, was travelling from Cologne to Palma de Mallorca when the crew declared an emergency using the 7700 transponder code. They chose to land in the French capital rather than continue to the original destination, according to a report by broadcaster RTL.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737, was operated by Smartwings on behalf of Eurowings, with 131 passengers on board. It landed safely at around 10 p.m. local time and stayed overnight in Paris before returning to Cologne the next day.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the smoke has not been disclosed.
