First production-standard TAI Hürjet completes maiden flight

Turkish Aerospace Industries has flown the first Hürjet aircraft built to the production standard destined for the Turkish Air Force. The flight took place on August 30 and lasted 18 minutes, according to the company.

Before the flight, the aircraft completed final assembly, ground tests and taxi trials. Unlike the two earlier Hürjet airframes, which were built for development and flight testing, this example reflects the configuration intended for series deliveries to the air force.

The Hürjet is designed as an advanced jet trainer. It is powered by a General Electric F404 engine and is capable of reaching a top speed of Mach 1.4, Turkish Aerospace said.
