IBA forecasts tenfold growth in Comac C919 fleet by 2030

Aviation consultancy IBA forecasts that the worldwide fleet of Comac C919 aircraft could grow to 322 by 2030. That would be a tenfold increase from the 31 in service at the end of 2025. Annual deliveries are projected to rise from 15 to 93 over the same period, according to the consultancy.

Comac says it holds more than 1,000 firm orders for the C909 and C919 combined, with the total exceeding 1,500 aircraft when letters of intent are included. Production has lagged behind the manufacturer's own targets, though. Only around 15 C919s were delivered in 2025, far short of an original goal of 75.

IBA expects output to ramp up substantially, forecasting 59 C919 deliveries in 2028 and 93 in 2030. Including the smaller C909 model, the consultancy projects Comac's total commercial fleet expanding from 205 aircraft in 2025 to 704 by 2030.

On the C919's international expansion, IBA points to certification by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency as an important factor. The consultancy expects that certification to arrive sometime between 2028 and 2031.
