Former Lufthansa fleet chief Nico Buchholz joins Odyssey Airlines board

British start-up carrier Odyssey Airlines has named Nico Buchholz, a former Lufthansa Group fleet chief, to its board of directors. The appointment takes effect on 6 August 2026, the company said.

Buchholz has more than three decades of experience across aviation, leasing and rail. At Lufthansa Group he was responsible for aircraft procurement and fleet management and strategy across the group and its airlines. Earlier in his career he worked at Airbus, Bombardier and Rolls-Royce. He has also held board roles at leasing firms and advised two major US airlines on fleet renewal and procurement.

Odyssey Airlines was founded in 2010. It has long planned to launch operations using the Airbus A220. In July 2026 the company said it was taking over an order originally placed with Bombardier for the type, though the aircraft are now set to be operated by Bermudair rather than Odyssey itself.

The appointment brings a figure with deep manufacturer and leasing ties to a carrier that has yet to begin commercial flying, more than fifteen years after it was established.
