Frontier Airlines Confirms Early October Exit from New York JFK

Frontier Airlines will stop operating from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport in early October. The Denver-based ultra-low-cost carrier confirmed the exit, which comes after about two years at the airport.

Most of Frontier's JFK routes were already cut earlier this year. The only remaining service was to Atlanta. The wind-down beginning in early October will bring that last route to an end.

The airline has not specified an exact date within early October. It has also not disclosed reasons for leaving JFK. Frontier's departure marks another shift in its New York-area strategy. The company has a substantial base at New York LaGuardia Airport, though that is not part of this announcement.

Frontier entered the JFK market roughly two years ago. It initially offered multiple destinations from the airport, but pared back its schedule significantly in previous months. The Atlanta flight had been the sole remaining operation until the announced exit.
