German Air Force practices dispersed operations at Nuremberg airport

The Luftwaffe is training with Eurofighters at Nuremberg this week, practising temporary operations from a civilian airport. Three aircraft were deployed, one fewer than planned after a technical fault.

The German Air Force is at Nuremberg Airport for a week of training with Eurofighter jets. The exercise, "Dispersed Operations", rehearses how combat aircraft and their support personnel can operate temporarily from a civilian airport.

Three Eurofighters from Tactical Air Force Squadron 74, based at Neuburg an der Donau, have been moved to Nuremberg. A fourth was dropped because of a technical defect, according to the portal Nordbayern.de.

One flight period is planned each morning through Friday, with take-offs and landings at Nuremberg. A total of 74 movements is expected. The aims include practice in working with the civilian airport and with air traffic control. Nuremberg already serves the squadron as a diversion airfield.
