German air force to train Eurofighter operations at Nuremberg airport
The Luftwaffe will practise take-offs and landings with four Eurofighters at Nuremberg's civilian airport from 5 to 9 October, as part of an exercise in operating combat jets away from military airfields.
The German air force will practise take-offs and landings at Nuremberg airport, a civilian facility, from 5 to 9 October. Four Eurofighter combat aircraft from Tactical Air Wing 74 are taking part in the exercise, called Dispersed Operations 2026 Nuremberg.
The point is to train operating combat jets away from military airfields. The air force will use the airport's existing infrastructure, with procedures agreed in advance with the airport operator. Protecting the deployed forces is part of the drill too.
According to the air force, the cooperation is meant to make it easier to move and operate air forces decentrally in a defence scenario. Civil flight operations at the airport should be affected as little as possible.
