Ostend-Bruges Airport granted new environmental permit

Flemish Environment Minister Jo Brouns has granted Ostend-Bruges Airport a new environmental permit, allowing it to keep operating under a set of conditions. The airport said it will adapt its procedures to comply with them.

The permit comes alongside plans to widen the airport's activities. It wants to attract more cargo operators and scheduled passenger services, and to expand business aviation through its partnership with NSAC. Training is part of the plan too, with the airport aiming to grow pilot and other aviation courses, including work with VIVES University of Applied Sciences.

EASP Air also plans a new hangar at the site. According to the airport, it would add maintenance, repair and overhaul capacity for business aviation alongside existing work carried out by NHV.

The announcement did not state how long the permit runs or set out its detailed operating conditions.
